The most important part of a cavies diet is hay. This should be available at all times. They will sleep, sit and eat it so pile it in!!!
At Zebedee Cavies we feed the following
Heygates Rabbits Choice mixed with a pygmy goat mix and graze on (dry grass) all mixed together.
We also feed dry bran 2 to 4 times a week. We feed this to our youngsters up to 4 times a week, as bran is good for weight gain.
We also feed extra to the ones who are going to a show a week or two prior to the event. We add a conditioning mix to their diet. Presently we are using Heygates conditioning mix.
We feed a variety of fruit and vegetables such as kale, peppers, carrots, cabbage, bananas, oranges, broccoli, strawberries, tomatoes etc. We vary it each feed.
